It's so much more than just a "dairy bar". There are awesome hot dogs, burgers, and Montreal smoked meat just like home.

On top of that you have the nicest person in the world to serve you. Everything is awesome about this nice neighbourhood lace in New West. We definitely will be back.

The first time we tried to hit up Anny's Dairy Bar was to try their maple twist soft serve. Sadly, their machine wasn't open for the season yet. Puzzling that their soft serve isn't offered year round.

We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 1:30pm). It's a small spot but there was a continuous stream of people coming in. It's run by a French woman who does it all. You can even buy cheese curds and real Quebecois maple syrup!

The menu consists of dessert, a la carte and combos. Basically, steamie hot dogs, poutine, smoked meat sandwiches and soft serve.

    - Smoked meat sandwich ($8.25) - if you've never been to Montreal, then this will suffice. Anny's version is okay but wow is it ever a small portion. I'd skip it and try the poutine next time.
    - Maple twist soft serve ($4.75 large) - this is what we came here for. Vanilla soft serve had a pleasant, slightly thicker texture. The stream of maple butter is tasty but we both wanted more of it. Once you've licked through the first layer, you're left with just vanilla.

Decent but stick to their soft serve offerings.

It isn't Summer in New West if you don't come here. I used to spend a lot of time at Anny's growing up and I still find myself paying it a visit even though I no longer live in the city. There's a lot to be said about a place that can stay in business this long when there's a Wendy's right across the street that serves similar food to a similar clientele. It's family run and you can tell they have regulars who have been coming for years.

They're very popular for their Maple ice cream, but growing up I always came here for the hot dogs and poutine. This visit was supposed to be for ice cream, but I ended up getting poutine while my friend had a banana split. The poutine is awesome. You can even buy their cheese curds by the gram if you want to take them home. A lot has been said about this place already and there isn't anything I'd say differently. Again, it has managed to stay open for years even though many of the places around it have closed due to chain restaurants opening up. That has to say a lot about the quality of their food and service.

I'll continue to come back for as long as its opened.

Anny's Dairy Bar is hidden gem in New West. Their Maple Twist Cone is so good. They are make a yummy poutine and "steamies" (aka hot dogs). A great spot if you want a quick lunch and ice cream afterwards. There's lots of street parking. Always nice to sit at the outside table on a nice day and people watch. Worth checking out!

I had heard some rave reviews about their Maple Twist cones. I mean...vanilla soft serve AND maple syrup? Who would've thought up such a combination! I decided to try the Kids size (3.20) since it seemed like they're pretty generous with the ice cream. It was smooth and creamy and each bite grants you a burst of vanilla flavoring...and that's when the subtle maple syrup taste swoops in out of nowhere to finish your taste buds off!

I saw that a lot of people seemed to be coming here to try their very reasonably priced steamed hot dogs and smoked meat sandwiches...so that'll merit another visit in the future!
